Demand for the Immediacy of Execution: Time is Money1
نویسنده
چکیده
Recent interest in the time-to-execution as a measure of market quality in order-driven markets coincides with the emerging empirical research on this topic. We build on recent theoretical models of dynamic limit order book to construct an estimation procedure that tests the e¤ect of the expected time-to-execution on order aggressiveness, taking into account the simultaneous determination of the two variables in equilibrium, the selection bias, and the censoring of the time variable. Using very detailed data from the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange, we show that the reduction in the expected timeto-execution is an important determinant of order aggressiveness, and may account for over 50% of the spread. Moreover, we obtain qualitatively similar results for stocks and government bonds that are traded on the same platform, which suggests that immediacy considerations have a signi cant e¤ect on the high frequency price dynamics regardless of the degree of information asymmetry. We also show that the expected time-to-execution explains the choice of order strategy better than the probability of execution, which was traditionally used in the literature. Finally, our results corroborate predictions of several theoretical models of order driven markets. JEL classi cation: G10, G15 C35.

Cloud computing is a model for convenient on-demand user’s access to changeable and configurable computing resources such as networks, servers, storage, applications, and services with minimal management of resources and service provider interaction. Task scheduling is regarded as a fundamental issue in cloud computing which aims at distributing the load on the different resources of a distribu...
متن کاملThe Construct of Willingness to Communicate and Its Relationship with EFL Learners’ Perceived Verbal and Nonverbal Teacher Immediacy
Given the fact that developing an intimate relationship between teacher and students creates a safe learning environment (Harran, 2006), and because teacher immediacy is proved to increase students’ motivation for learning (Velez & Cano, 2008), this study was an attempt to explore the relationship between Iranian EFL learners’ perceived teacher immediacy and their willingness to communicate (WT...
متن کاملQoS-Based web service composition based on genetic algorithm
Quality of service (QoS) is an important issue in the design and management of web service composition. QoS in web services consists of various non-functional factors, such as execution cost, execution time, availability, successful execution rate, and security. In recent years, the number of available web services has proliferated, and then offered the same services increasingly. The same web ...
متن کاملEnergy Efficiency Analyses of Toolpaths in a Pocket Milling Process
This paper presents an approach to analytically determine the most energy efficient toolpath strategy in mechanical machining. This was achieved by evaluating the electrical energy requirement of the NC codes generated for the zag, zigzag, and rectangular contour toolpath strategies. The analytical method was validated by performing pocket milling on AISI 1018 steel with the considered toolpath...
متن کاملNew spatial clustering-based models for optimal urban facility location considering geographical obstacles
The problems of facility location and the allocation of demand points to facilities are crucial research issues in spatial data analysis and urban planning. It is very important for an organization or governments to best locate its resources and facilities and efficiently manage resources to ensure that all demand points are covered and all the needs are met. Most of the recent studies, which f...
